Pilsner Urquell, the original Pilsner, still brewed the original way, has announced the opening of two new tank beer outlets, both in the North of England, with further UK installations soon to be revealed. Following the success of the inaugural tank beer outlets in London and Cambridge which have seen over half a million pints sold since 2013, eagerly awaited venues Headrow House in Leeds and Albert’s Schloss in Manchester, will make a main feature of the brewery fresh unpasteurised beer, which is stored in striking authentic Czech copper tanks.
Since opening its doors last Friday, Headrow House in Leeds has been the fastest selling Pilsner Urquell launch in the UK to date with over 3,500 pints consumed within three days. The world-renowned Czech beer, made using Saaz Hops, Moravian Barley and Plzeň water, will be delivered direct from the brewery in Plzeň every week in temperature-controlled trucks, ensuring that guests can enjoy the fresh beer as if they were at the brewery.
Split over four floors, Headrow House is a former textile mill at Bramleys Yard, just off The Headrow, and offers a range of spaces from the European style Beer Hall and Ox Club restaurant on the ground floor to a live event space, Redondo Beach Cocktail Bar and roof terraces. Co-founder Ash Kollakowski says of why they decided to install six Pilsner Urquell tanks at Headrow House: “Unpasteurised beer just tastes amazing. There’s no better way to serve beer.”
Albert’s Schloss in Manchester follows hotly on the heels of the Leeds launch, opening on Thursday 15th October on the ground floor of the grade II-listed 3,000 capacity Albert Hall on Peter Street. Mission Mars, the newly formed company behind the project, created by Revolution Vodka Bar and Trof Group founders, will showcase four Pilsner Urquell tanks as part of the Bohemian inspired food, drink and live music venue. The food menu, curated by group executive chef director, Dan Mullen will contain items of Bavarian, Bohemian and Alpine origin to complement the beer.
Commenting on the success of Pilsner Urquell tank beer in their London outlets over the last year both Dean Finch, General Manager at Strongroom Bar and Kitchen and Jez Manterfield, General Manager of The White Horse, Parsons Green provide their views: “Pilsner Urquell Tank Beer offers staff a fresh and exciting opportunity to engage with consumers and share its incredible heritage and beer story” comments Dean. Jez adds: “Having the tanks inside our pub has not only created a great talking point because they are so visible, but has also helped to deliver great tasting beer. Unpasteurised tank beer offers my customers something really special, a taste of the real Czech!”
Gary Haigh, Managing Director of Miller Brands, which is responsible for managing Pilsner Urquell in the UK comments: “There is so much passion for Pilsner Urquell Tank Beer in the UK, from both our customers and their consumers. The reasons behind the success and growth of the brand are down to its provenance, authenticity and great taste. We are delighted that both Headrow House and Albert’s Schloss chose Pilsner Urquell Tank beer and we look forward to announcing further installations, which we are currently finalising.”
